Pension Self Serve Portal
Manulife Financial (Manulife) offers a diverse range of financial protection products and wealth management services to millions of customers in 19 countries and territories worldwide. It is the largest life insurance company in Canada and one of the top five in the world.
Manulife’s pension management system was not meeting the needs of their clients and was costly to enhance and maintain. They needed to provide their clients with secure access and an ability to check account balances, buy or sell underlying funds or instruments, rebalance their portfolio, obtain rates of return on their investments, and review educational materials. To deliver a suitable new application, Manulife enlisted Intelliware to migrate their existing offerings to a new e-commerce platform.
Intelliware built a user friendly self-serve portal that allows clients to actively manage their portfolios. The project required integration of a legacy back-end administration and recordkeeping system into a new front-end interface that was built in Java on the Websphere platform. Following the i-Proving methodology there were a series of incremental functionality releases which generated extensive user feedback creating a system that allowed for personalization and branding by individual client. Extensive automated test were built during the process allowing the Manulife team to easily maintain the system and add features in-house.
